Ads for beauty salons: what works for Russian speaking stylists in the US

Why followers are not bookings, how to measure payback across repeat visits, and what to show besides the interior.

The main mistake: counting followers A salon invests in a beautiful profile, gains followers, posts work, and the chairs sit empty on weekdays. A follower is not a customer. Many of them live in another state and simply enjoy looking at nails. Count bookings, not likes. And count them in a simple table: date, where the person came from, booked or not, ticket size. # What makes beauty different ## Customers come back Nails every three weeks, color every two months, skincare in courses. That means a first visit can break even and still be fine, as long as the person stays. So payback here is measured over at least three months, not on the first ticket. A salon that counts only the first visit walks away from advertising that is actually profitable. ## People choose the stylist, not the salon They come for a person. That is a strength: show your stylists, their work and their hands, not just the interior and the logo. ## Geography is tight Nobody drives across town for a manicure. A radius of a few miles usually beats the whole city. # What to show in ads - Before and after shot in the same light, no filters. - Short videos of the process: people watch hands at work. - The stylist's face and voice: trust in a person beats trust in a sign. - Real reviews with names. Avoid: stock photos of perfect models, other people's work pulled from the internet, and the word "discount" with no reason attached. # An offer for the first visit A new person needs a clear reason to come now. Options that work: - A first service at a special price with the regular price shown. - Two services for the price of one, time limited. - A free consultation with a care plan when the service is expensive. The offer must not train people to wait for discounts. A first visit discount pays off only if they return at full price, which depends entirely on how they are treated. # Booking and response Most beauty leads arrive in the evening and on weekends. Answer during business hours the next day and half of them are gone to whoever replied first. Simple fixes: online booking with time selection, an automatic confirmation, a message in the messenger if the call is missed. A reminder the day before cuts no shows, and a no show is an empty chair and lost money. # Reviews and maps For a salon, the maps profile often brings more calls than ads. Fresh photos, replies to reviews and accurate hours cost nothing and shape the choice. Ask for a review right after the visit while the person is happy, and send a short link so nothing has to be searched for. # Where to start 1. Start a bookings table with the source. 2. Update the maps profile and ask regulars for reviews. 3. Shoot five short work videos on a phone in decent light. 4. Write one offer for a first visit. 5. Run ads on a tight radius and count bookings, not followers. On a review call we can look at your numbers and say at what budget ads make sense in your neighborhood.
